Delirium Trilogy - Lauren Oliver (Day 3)

What if love were a disease?

A little bit of a different post today, didn't want to completely bombard you with beauty reviews! As you may know, as well as being a complete beauty junkie and shopaholic, I am also a complete nerd. There is nothing I love more than curling up with a good book and am forever reading all night because I just can't put it down.

I recently read a series of books that completely took over my life, when I wasn't reading  I was itching to get back to read more, I know when this happens I have really stumbled upon something magical. Said series is Delirium by Lauren Oliver (latter books are called Pandemonium and Requiem). Delirium is set in a world where love it classed as a disease, if you fall in love you have the deliria. The books focus on the life of Lena who is only months away from the mandatory operation that every young person has when they turn 18 to remove their ability to love someone. Lena's entire life is changed when she meets Alex, and as you can probably guess - they fall in love! I won't say too much more, but  basically the books explore what happens to Lena once she discovers there is more to life than what she has been told and taught.

Basically I fell madly in love with these books and the characters in them. They made me laugh, made me cry ( A LOT) and made me seriously consider what if love were a disease? I most definitely would be infected! I have to warn you but, the way Lauren Oliver finishes the final book will make you want to scream, I actually wanted to throw my iPad out the window (thankfully I didn't). But seriously Lauren - WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO TO ME?

Any other book suggestions for me?

  1. I love to read too! I've been on the lookout for a new series of books to read as I'm near the end of my current one. Definitely going to give these a go, sounds like my kind of series!
