Hey all! First off I will be honest, I wasn't going to write this post. I was going to play my beautiful new white teeth off as all natural, but then I thought this is probably one of the most valuable/helpful posts I could write, cause I everyone cares about their teeth! I have been particular about my teeth since the pink princess toothbrush stage; then came the pink braces, but I have always wanted my teeth whitened. Despite always looking after them and them always being healthy, I just had quite naturally yellow teeth - which I hated! So seeing as I didn't have the money floating about to get them whitened professionally I decided to order some of the infamous Crest Whitening Strips. These are an American brand which provide home teeth whitening strips. And it is official - I AM IN LOVE! The difference these have made to my teeth is amazing, and the amount of people that have mentioned how white they are is amazing! (A nice excuse to smile more and show them off!).
How do they work? They are basically thin pieces of sticky plastic (kind of like sellotape) that you apply to your teeth and leave for varying lengths of time depending on the version you go for! The one I chose was once a day for 30 minutes for twenty days. I did about 16 days and didn't do them consecutively, at the start I did, but nearing the end of the course I just topped up if I was going out or wanted them to look perfect. I still have a few left for this again!
Now for the only bad point, and one that may put people off! They taste ROTTEN! It is like walking around with bleach (or what I assume bleach tastes like) in your mouth. It's not overly bad after about ten minutes, but if you haven't them placed firmly on your teeth then it's definitely worse! I read somewhere if you place the lower strip on first it sticks on better and it definitely does, I have no idea how on earth this makes a difference. I had very little sensitivity, the odd morning my teeth would feel sensitive, but nothing major or unbearable. However if you are prone to sensitive teeth then I would be wary of trying these! I would say that it is most definitely worth suffering the awful taste for, no pain no gain right?
Now if you have made it through all that rambling then you'll want to know where to get them. You can order them of ebay or I ordered of a U.K based website called White Strips Direct which was brilliant. Free postage and packaging and really quick delivery! I opted for the Crest 3D White Professional Effects but you can compare on their website which would be best for you depending on length of time and strength. The end price being £39.99, so seriously, how could you complain about forty quid for seriously whiter teeth!
